The weather forecast for today is looking as bleak as ever

No, no, no.

If you, like us, hate having to get up and out into the cold then you won’t be too pleased this morning.

It’s absolutely baltic out and widespread frost has covered the country. According to Met Éireann, the frost will clear this morning but that will lead into a day of rain and cold temperatures.

The weather forecaster said: “Frost will gradually clear this morning and patchy rain will develop in the west and southwest during the day. There will also be a few showers across north Ulster but it will be generally dry elsewhere with occasional bright or sunny spells.

“Maximum temperatures this afternoon of 3 to 6 degrees generally but a few degrees milder along Atlantic coasts. Winds will be mostly moderate, westerly in direction.”

And for tonight: “Patchy rain and drizzle will extend gradually eastwards overnight but it will make slow progress with many eastern counties holding dry. It will be less cold than in recent nights with minimum temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees in Ulster and Leinster but a milder 6 to 9 degrees for Connacht and Munster.

“There will be a freshening northwest breeze in the south and west but winds light and variable elsewhere.”

Can we just stay in bed?
