Met Eireann say the weather is due to clear up slightly today – but only slightly

It’s hellish out there, lads.

How did you get home last night?

By bus? By bike? By feet as you sludged through the apocalyptic rain, avoided cars driving too close to the pavement, and desperately tried to keep your shitty €4 umbrella from fully turning inside out?

Same, yeah – and it was awful.

It’s on days like yesterday that the cold seeps into your bones, follows you home, climbs into bed with you and spoons you until you fall asleep shivering – and definitely developing some sort of chronic illness.

And although today it’s still cold, wet, and unequivocally dark, according to Met Eireann, it’s not going to be quite as bad as yesterday.

It’s the little things, really.

Today is, unsurprisingly, going to start off quite wet and damp – especially in Leinster – as the remnants of last night’s storm wear off.

It’ll also be extremely cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle across most of the country.

Later on, it’ll be brightening up gradually from the northwest, but staying dull and damp in Leinster until late in the afternoon.

There’ll be breezy with moderate to fresh northerly winds on east coasts. Temperatures will reach as high as 16 degrees apparently, but listen we’ll believe it when we see it.

Enjoy it, if you can.
