Met Eireann warn of ‘thundery downpours’ today, just in case you were planning outdoor activities

Great, yeah, cheers.

Met Eireann has warned of “thundery downpours” today just to make Monday that bit more Monday-er.

There’ll be plenty of bright spells throughout the day, but there’ll also be scattered showers as well as the potential for a bit of thunder towards the afternoon.

“Sunny spells and scattered showers today with a few thundery downpours possible this afternoon,” they said.

“The best of the sunshine is expected along northern and eastern coasts. Maximum temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees in moderate northerly breezes.”

Summer, indeed.

However, there is a mild bit of good news as the showers are expected to be predominantly bad today, clearing up towards the rest of the week.

Most of the country will be left pretty much dry leading into Tuesday and the rest of the week, as the fresh northerly breezes take over.

It’s likely that there will be a few scattered showers across Tuesday and Wednesday but nothing that’ll ruin your entire day, hopefully.

That being said, any amount of rain is a painful enough sight when you’re trying to plan your cans by the canal.

C’mon, lads, it’s June.

Give us the sun we deserve.
