Michael Owen set to visit daughter Gemma in the Love Island villa

Kat O'Connor

It looks like Michael Owen is set to visit daughter Gemma in the Love Island villa.

According to reports, the sportsman is set to appear in the family reunion episode.

If Gemma stays in the villa long enough then her famous dad will head over to Majorca.

A source told The Sun that Owen’s calendar is pretty clear at the moment, which has led many to believe he’s keeping his schedule free so he can appear on the reality show.

Islanders usually receive a visit from two loved ones, some invite friends, and siblings and many will also invite their parents.

Owen will meet Gemma’s Love Island partner Luca Bish if he appears in the upcoming episode.

The Sun reports, “The end of July looks to be a golden opportunity for Michael to see Gemma.”

“He’s notoriously private and anything could change between now and finals week but, all things considered, the odds on him taking part are better than ever.”

Gemma has barely mentioned her father during her time on Love Island.

The 19-year-old did briefly mention him in an episode of Unseen Bits, but she rarely mentions her dad by name.

Fans believed the footballer asked his daughter not to mention him during her time on the show.

One fan shared a theory: “If her family paid [ ITV ] money not to air [Gemma talking about Michael] then we won’t see it. I think it’s pretty obvious that some sort of deal was struck regarding her time on the island.”

We’ll just have to wait and see if Michael Owen will appear in the villa this month. It’ll certainly make for interesting TV.
