A spokesman for Mick Jagger has confirmed the Rolling Stones rocker is expecting his eighth child with twenty-nine-year-old ballerina Melanie Hamrick.
Jagger, who has seven children from his previous relationships, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild, will welcome number eight in January, 2017 and is said to be delighted by the news.
A source revealed to The Sun that Jagger and Hamrick are “surprised and happy”.
“This is great news. It will be Mick’s eighth child and nothing fazes him. He’s been incredibly supportive.” the source told the newspaper.
On Hamrick, who is expected to remain at home in the US with the baby while Jagger remains in the UK the source said:
“She’s very bright, intelligent, sparky and has her own ideas about how she wants to lead her life. She knows what a great relationship Mick has with all of his children and can’t wait for him to be a dad again.”
The new arrival will be a half sibling to Karis, 45, Jagger’s daughter with the singer Marsha Hunt, Jade 44, his daughter with Bianca Jagger, and Lizzy, 32, James, 30, Georgia May, 24 and Gabriel, 18 – with model and now wife of Rupert Murdoch Jerry Hall. He is also dad to Lucas, 16, his son with Brazilian model Luciana Gimenez Mora.
Luckily Jagger will have someone to compare notes with; bandmate Ronnie Wood, 69, and his third wife Sally Humphreys (37) welcomed twins Gracie Jane and Alice Rose in May. The girls join Ronnie’s other children Jesse (39), Leah (36), Tyrone (30) and Jamie (41) and nine grandchildren.
