“The most beautiful gift of life”

An unborn baby has defied the odds by surviving the horror car crash that claimed his mum’s life.

22-year-old Samantha Russell was killed by a robber who was fleeing police on July 6. It is believed the thief slammed into her car during a high-speed chase.

The pickup truck sped through an intersection and broke a red light before hitting three cars, including the one Samantha was driving.

Russell was only 33 weeks at the time of the accident, but doctors worked tirelessly to save her baby’s life.

The mum-to-be was rushed to hospital in Kansas, but it was too late. She passed away at 7 pm, two hours after the incident.

According to KAKE News, Samantha’s baby boy is doing well and is healthy.

Samantha’s husband Brandon opened up about the harrowing loss of his life in a moving Facebook post.

Alongside photos of the dad holding his newborn son, he wrote: “Words cannot explain or express the emotions going through everyone’s head today in light of the events that took place on July 6th 2021 at around 5:30CST. Sammy was taken from us but left behind the most beautiful gift of life.”

“Samantha was going to be a fantastic mother. She always had everything planned out and ready to go. She was driven and the hardest worker I knew. She always ALWAYS knew what to say when I was going through an issue or needed advice. She was the best person to know,” he continued.

Brandon said she would be remembered for her bubbly attitude, being a good person, and was the “best example of what it was like to be happy.”

Samantha “did not deserve to die on impact from a reckless driver,” he wrote.

“She showed happiness to everyone and anyone that she knew. She will always be my wife and the person I turn to when I need advice or to ask another one of my dumb questions. I love you Samantha Russell. You are everything to me.”

Brandon encouraged people to cherish the ones they love: “Love those special people around you while they are here that no one could ever replace because they mean so much to you. You never know what to expect every day. Live every day to your fullest.”

Samantha is survived by her husband Brandon and their baby boy Mac.

37-year-old Javan Ervin was charged with first-degree murder, criminal possession of a firearm amongst other charges. It is believed Ervin has been in and out of prison since 2004.

A GoFundMe has been set up to support Brandon and his family. You can donate here.
