An official statement read: “This decision has been made following discussions with members of the Government Task Force on Emergency Planning and in light of the advice from Met Éireann on this unprecedented storm.”
A 13-year-old schoolgirl has been found in Cork following an extensive search and online appeal.
Darine was described as having brown hair and eyes, and tanned skin. She was dropped at the cross-river ferry at the Passage West side on Monday morning by her dad, however, when he returned from work she was not at home in Cobh.
PLEASE anyone in Cobh/Passage West if you know anyone who helped a girl in a grey St.Peters uniform let the authorities know #FINDDARINE

Although she was left at the terminal, it is not believed that she ever boarded a ferry.
She was wearing the grey uniform of St Peter’s Community School in Passage when last seen.
Thankfully, recent updates shared on social media confirm that Darine has now been located and is safe. Gardaà in Cobh had been involved and the hashtag #FindDarine was trending as people rallied behind the search.

On Monday morning Darine’s father, Robert, got in contact with Cork’s 96fm to appeal for help.
Robert said he took his child to school in Passage West from Cobh on the Cross River ferry.
As the school was closed, he told 96fm’s Opinion Line he put her on the ferry back to Cobh and that she was to go home or to a friend’s house.
Please anyone contact Gardai if you see Darine. Not a safe place to be outside today #finddarine https://t.co/nH87gx32NQ

However, when he himself returned to their house she wasn’t there nor was she at her friend’s.
He is grateful for the help he received.
On Sunday, the Department Of Education confirmed that schools and colleges would remain closed on Monday due to hurricane Ophelia.
