More Luas Strikes Planned (Including St Patrick’s Day)

HerFamily

Last week many commuters were affected when Luas workers followed through with their industrial action.

This week will be the same, with further strikes scheduled for Thursday and Friday, and it’s not going to end there.

According to RTÉ News more strikes are planned for March 8th and 17th – which means that you might have to rethink your mode of transportation for the St Patrick’s Day festivities.

Employees, who are being represented by SIPTU, are seeking pay rises but their employer Transdev says that the demands are unsustainable.

Things are deadlocked at the moment and there are no signs that there will be intervention from the Workplace Relations Commission or the Labour Court.

In other words, if you usually rely on the Luas or are planning to use it on the aforementioned dates, you should probably have a back-up plan.

What are your views on this – do you support the workers or have you been affected by the strikes? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter.
