€45,000 raised after ‘much loved’ schoolboy killed in Barcelona attack

More than €45,788 has been raised to help support the family of a "much loved" schoolboy killed in the Barcelona terror attack.

Seven year old Julian Cadman, a dual British-Australian national, was separated from his mum during the rampage on Las Ramblas. His mother, who is known as Jom, was severely injured in the attack and remains in hospital. A friend of Julian's parents, Scott Bowman, set up the GoFundMe to try and help support the family. The page, with a goal of $1 million (€851,887), was set up on Sunday August 20 - and the donations keep flooding in. At the time of writing, the GoFundMe has raised $53,863 (€45,788). The description reads:

"Andrew, Jom and Julian are a normal Aussie family whose lives have been devastated by the recent tragedy in Barcelona. "Like all families they are paying a mortgage, bills and other sundries. "As you can imagine there will be ongoing medical costs to get Jom back to full health. "Many people have been asking how they may support the family at this time. "We are asking for any contribution for those that may wish to help. This will assist with additional medical and funeral costs for the family. "We thank you greatly for any support you may offer."

Julian's family confirmed on Sunday that he was tragically among the 13 killed in Barcelona. They paid tribute to the "funny and cheeky" schoolboy, who was "always bringing a smile to our faces" in a statement issued through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Australia. It read:

“Julian was a much loved and adored member of our family. "As he was enjoying the sights of Barcelona with his mother, Julian was sadly taken from us. “He was so energetic, funny and cheeky, always bringing a smile to our faces. "We are so blessed to have had him in our lives and will remember his smiles and hold his memory dear to our hearts. “We would like to thank all those who helped us in searching for Julian. "Your kindness was incredible during a difficult time."
