Mum arrested for ‘using stun gun to wake up son for church’

She says she did it for God.

A mum in the United States was arrested after she allegedly used a stun gun on her teenage son to wake him up for church.

Sharron Dobbins, 40, is accused of using the weapon on her son to get him out of bed for the service on Easter Sunday.

She told Phoenix news outlet KNXV:

“I said, ‘Get up, It’s Jesus’ Day.

“I don’t think I did anything wrong because you’re supposed to put God first and that’s all I was trying to do is tell my kids to put God first.”

She denies actually using the weapon on the 16-year-old boy, insisting instead that she only “made the noise” and made it spark to scare him.

But the authorities say that they found two marks on the teenager’s leg and, as a result, took Dobbins into custody, where she spent 12 hours in jail.

She was later charged with one count of child abuse with intent to cause harm.

Despite the situation, Dobbins insists she did nothing wrong.

She told the station:

“[My son] was like “Mom, I’m calling the police.

“I said ‘You can call the police, UPS, DPS, whoever you want to call.’

“Police were on the phone and I told the dispatcher, I told her ‘You need to be with Jesus right now.'”

Sharron’s son is currently out of the house and living with relatives, and his mum says she hopes that he has learned his lesson.

She continued:

“Nobody writes a book on the correct way of parenting.

“I told my sons to honor their mother and father, or their days will be short. That’s my favourite.”
