A mum has been killed in a car accident after visiting her premature twins in hospital.
Katie Evans was on the way home from seeing her baby girls, Hannah and Sarah, when a drunk driver crashed into her car.
She was only one mile from her home.
The accident happened last Friday just after midnight in California.
Katie also has four other children with husband Jacob – 12-year-old Spencer, 11-year-old Travis, nine-year-old Nathaniel, and two-year-old Gideon.
The family have since set up a YouCaring page for people to donate toward’s Jacob’s childcare expenses.
They have already reached over half of their $500,000 goal.
The Evans family have thanked donators for their generosity.
“Initially, Jacob thought he would have to uproot his kids and move them close to family but due to your generosity, he’s now beginning to explore how he can keep the family in Southern California with their friends and neighbors.
“We do not know how large expenses will be, but are very grateful for your generosity to my brother and his family.”
The family have also paid tribute to Katie, saying that she was a devoted mum to all of her children.
“Katie couldn’t go a day without visiting her brand-new twin girls in the hospital. She was a devoted mother, sister and wife and will be immensely missed.”
