A mum left her four children home alone while she took a trip to Germany.
Iowa woman Erin Lee Macke decided to take a holiday from September 20 to October 1.
According to police, she had made no prior childcare arrangements. Macke’s children are aged between six and 12 years old.
The Des Moines Register reports that the children were taken into custody by the Iowa Department of Human Services after a neighbour called the police department.
Police then contacted Macke and told her that she had to return home.
Once she did, she was arrested on four counts of child endangerment and one count of making a firearm available to somebody under the age of 21.
The four children are currently living with family members.
