Mum says she’s saving for her baby’s nose job…and people are fuming

One mum has sparked controversy after revealing she is saving up for a nose job for her baby daughter.

The anonymous woman took to Mumsnet earlier this week to ask if she was being unreasonable to start putting some money aside for the nose job. She explained her husband has a "very large nose" and while she thinks this part of his appearance makes him look handsome, he isn't too fond of it - and has been bullied in the past. The mum added that while their daughter is still young, she's sure the baby will be taking after her dad "in the nose department". Her post read:

"DH [Dear Husband] has a very large nose. I like it and I think it makes him look handsome. He really doesn't like it. "DD [Dear Daughter] looks like she is going to take after her father in the nose department. "AIBU [Am I Being Unreasonable] to put some money aside each week incase she wants a nose job when she is older? "If her nose isn't like her dad's or it doesn't bother her she could use it for other things."

The mum added that "obviously she would still be gorgeous to me" - but it was too late for some commenters. Plenty of people were worried the mum would damage her daughter's self esteem over the situation. A forum user pointed out:

"For the love of god, don't talk about her nose EVER to her. "You'll give the poor child a complex. "

A different person chimed in:

"It's your job to make her feel beautiful and have a great sense of self worth regardless of her nose "Save for her to go to university or whatever she wants to do instead. "If she ever finds out you have a nose job fund that's her self esteem and your relationship destroyed."

One person said:

"How mortified will she feel when she finds out you've been saving for cosmetic surgery since she was a baby?"

Another unsympathetic user deadpanned:

"Don't forget to start saving for implants for her 18th."
