Mum shocked to find naked images of her children on Google Street View

A woman has expressed her shock at coming across photos with her naked children in them on Google Street View.

Laura Haslam from Lancashire in the UK was told by a neighbour that there was a photo of the kids playing naked in the family’s garden on the site.

She checked and found that while the two children’s faces were blurred out, their bodies could clearly be seen.

“They had their faces blurred out but it was enough for a paedophile to get a kick out of it,”  Laura told The Sun.

She said she wasn’t sure when the photos were taken but believed it might have been last summer when she let them play in a paddling pool in the front garden.

“It’s quite scary because I don’t know how many people might have seen it,” she said.

Laura contacted Google to request that the images be removed, and got in touch with the police, who asked the site to do the same.

The children’s bodies in the images have now been fully blurred.

In a statement, Google said: “Google takes a number of steps to protect the privacy of individuals when images are published to Street View”.

“We automatically blur sensitive information like faces and vehicle licence plates and in this case although the faces were already blurred, we applied additional blurring to the image when requested.”
