A woman whose cervical cancer was initially dismissed by doctors has died.

Louise Gleadell, from Leicester the UK, passed away at the weekend surrounded by her family, they said.

Louise was mum to three boys, 13-year-old Joseph, 11-year-old Mateo and Jude, two.

She was diagnosed with the disease in February 2016 and was told in early 2017 that it was incurable.

Louise initially sought medical advice due to pain in her breasts, but was told it was a post-natal side effect.

“The doctors kept saying to me, ‘Oh it’s because you’re breastfeeding. Baby is waking up in the night, you’re not getting as much sleep,'” she told The Sun last year.

“Eventually they did blood tests and when I rang up to ask if they’d had the results they said it was all fine. They just said my calcium was a bit low.

“He also looked at my cervix several times and told me that looked normal when there was a great big tumour on it.”

After fighting the cancer for over two years, Louise finally lost her battle on Saturday.

“Our beautiful Louise passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by love,” her family said via her Louise’s Gift of Time Facebook page.

“Louise never ever gave up the fight – she did everything she possibly could to be here for as long as possible for her three boys.

“She is at peace now, and free from all the pain and suffering.”
