New guidelines allow live music in hospitality settings and outdoor gatherings of 200

The latest guidelines were published today.

Fáilte Ireland has announced new guidelines surrounding outdoor hospitality, which now allow up to 200 guests, live music and performances at outdoor events.

Additionally, patrons can now book multiple tables at outdoor events.

However, “intermingling” between tables is not permitted, and “robust protection measures” must be in place. On top of that, the limit of 200 attendees will be dependent on the space available.

The guidelines read: “Overall capacity will depend on the size of the outdoor event area where customers will be seated.”

Live music performances in hospitality spaces will also be subject to public health guidance.

In terms of seating layout, table plans must allow for social distancing of one metre.

Additionally, customers must wear masks when moving between dining areas and serving areas and using indoor facilities.

Outdoor spaces are allowed to erect a roof, provided that the area is not wholly or substantially enclosed. No more than half the perimeter is allowed to be covered by wall.

Robust cleaning measures must also be adhered to. The outdoor space, including the entry and exits, the smoking area, the seating, benches and toilets must be cleaned twice a day.

Other areas – tables, seats, trays and reusable items – need to be cleaned more frequently.

The updated guidelines come amid calls for clarity, after it emerged that the former Minister for Children Katherine Zappone hosted 50 people at an event in the Merrion Hotel in Dublin.
