The show features Neil Patrick Harris in a lead role.

If Emily in Paris and Sex and the City were right up your street, then you’ll be pleased to know that a brand new show from creator Darren Star is landing on Netflix later this month.

Uncoupled stars How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris as Michael Lawson, a wealthy realtor who is left single after his partner of 17 years leaves him.

Starring alongside NPH are a few familiar faces, including Tisha Campbell (My Wife and Kids), Brooks Ashmanskas (The Prom), Emerson Brooks (Captain America) and Marcia Gay Harden (How To Get Away With Murder).

The official Netflix synopsis reads: “Michael Lawson (Neil Patrick Harris) seems to have it all figured out. He’s a successful New York City real estate agent with a great career, a supportive family, close friends, and a loving relationship with his partner of 17 years, Colin (Tuc Watkins).

“But when Colin unexpectedly moves out on the eve of his 50th birthday, Michael is completely blindsided. Overnight, he has to confront two nightmares: losing the man he thought was his soulmate, and suddenly finding himself a single gay man in his mid-forties in New York City.”

In the aftermath of their split, Michael attempts to navigate the New York City dating scene both on the apps and in real life.

As well as having the backing of Darren Star, Modern Family creator Jeffrey Richman is the co-creator, so we’re guaranteed a decent few laughs with this one.

In a statement ahead of its release, the creators said that they were “so excited” for viewers to watch Uncoupled, and spoke about the need for a romcom from the prospective of a gay man.

They said: “It is a passion project for both of us, one that has given us the opportunity to write a bittersweet romantic comedy from the perspective of a gay man.”

Uncoupled lands on Netflix on 29 July.
