8-year-old girl killed in London primary school tragedy named

The 8-year-old girl killed in the Wimbledon primary school tragedy has been named as Selena Lau.

The beloved 8-year-old was killed after a Land Rover crashed into a school in Wimbledon on Thursday morning.

Selena’s family issued a statement, via the police, following her untimely passing.

“Selena was an intelligent and cheeky girl adored and loved by everyone. The family wishes their privacy to be respected at this sad time,” her family said.

They also shared a photo of Selena.

A second eight-year-old child is currently fighting for her life in hospital. Police confirmed she is in a life-threatening condition following the tragedy.

A woman, aged in her 40s, is also in critical condition in the hospital.

Metropolitan Police confirmed a woman in her 40s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. She has been released on bail.

Her name has not been released to the public.

A 7-month-old girl and multiple others are also in hospital, but their injuries are not life-threatening.

16 people were injured in the incident, but only 10 were taken to hospital.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident at The Study Preparatory School in Wimbledon.

Police stressed they’re not treating the incident as terror-related.
