Those eligible will receive an additional €100 per child
The Department of Social Protection has revealed when parents will receive their €100 Child Benefit bonus.
The government confirmed that an additional €100 will be paid to help parents and guardians cope with the cost of living crisis.
Recipients can expect the payment at the beginning of June, the Department of Social Protection confirmed.
The additional funds will be paid on June 6th, which is the June Child Benefit payment date.
However, it may be paid early due to the June bank holiday.
Payments were made earlier this month because of the Easter bank holiday so this could also happen in June.
Parents could receive the payment on June 2nd, before post offices close for the long weekend.
The Department of Social Protection stated:
“For people receiving Child Benefit, an additional lump sum payment of €100 for each child will be paid in June with the regular Child Benefit payment."
The bonus is a once-off payment. It was introduced as a measure to help families cope with the ongoing cost of living crisis.
Parents of children under 16 receive Child Benefit once a month.
You can get Child Benefit for children aged 16 and 17 if they are in full-time education or full-time training or have a disability and cannot support themselves.
However, parents of children aged 18 and over do not receive payments.
Parents receive €140 a month for each child. It is paid on the first Tuesday of every month.
