Gardaí and emergency services rushed to Dun Laoghaire yesterday afternoon.
A woman in her 50s has tragically died in a freak accident in Dun Laoghaire.
According to reports, the woman, who was a wheelchair user, fell into the water on Monday, June 27th.
The tragic incident happened shortly after 2.30 pm on Monday afternoon.
She fell into the water at the West Pier, Gardaí confirmed.
Dublin Coastguard assisted Gardaí with the rescue operation.
It is believed the woman and her wheelchair were then pulled from the water.
However, the woman was pronounced dead.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed that a post-mortem will now take place.
They told The Sunday World: “Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances.
“The body of a female in her 50s was recovered from the water at Dún Laoghaire at 2.30 pm this afternoon, Monday 27th June.
“Her body has since been removed to the mortuary at Loughlinstown where a post-mortem will take place at a later date.”
Gardaí are currently investigating all circumstances of the woman’s tragic death.
