A 42-year-old man has shared how he tried to save an Irish girl after she got into trouble in their hotel pool.
The girl and her family were staying at the HYB Eurocalas Hotel in Calas de Mallorca.
On Monday, June 20th, the young girl was pulled from the hotel's swimming pool.
It is believed a German man pulled the young girl out of the water.
A British man, who is a former soldier, then performed CPR on her for an hour.
He told
he desperately tried to save the young girl.
He performed CPR until the paramedics arrived and then took over.
They rushed her to the hospital in a critical condition, but the young girl sadly died in hospital on Wednesday, June 22nd.
He said a nurse was also trying to save the girl but pronounced her dead at the scene.
The dad shared, “But then the nurse got up and went away, and she left. She went back to her sun lounger and was telling people that she had gone."
However, he refused to give up and continued compressions.
“I was never going to stop, what if that was my child? No one knew how long she had been in there."
He told the publication that the girl's family was on the first day of their holidays.
He believes the young girl made her way from the kid's pool to the adult's pool.
The man claimed she wasn't wearing any armbands when she got into difficulty.
Efforts to resuscitate the girl "went on for a long time".
"Her mum was absolutely frantic, the dad was trying his best to keep her calm."
It is understood that the 7-year-old's parents are being supported by grief counsellors.
