Woman killed and two children in serious condition following Kildare crash

The Kildare collision occurred on Tuesday evening

A woman in her 40s has sadly passed away following a collision involving a car and a van in Co. Kildare.

Two children were also involved in the accident.

Both children were rushed to CHI Crumlin on the evening of January 2nd.

They are in a serious, but stable condition in the Dublin hospital, Gardaí confirmed.

It is understood that the collision took place at around 6:15 pm on Tuesday, January 2nd. The car and van crashed on the R148 at Cloncurry in Enfield, County Kildare.

The woman in her 40s, who was driving the car, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The male driver of the van was taken the hospital, but his injuries have been described as non-life threatening.
 
Local diversions have been put in place following the harrowing accident.

The R148 at Cloncurry in between Enfield and Kilcock is also currently closed.

The Garda Forensic Collision Investigators will conduct a technical examination of the scene this morning.

Anyone with information about the accident has been asked to come forward.

Gardaí are particularly interested in talking to witnesses, especially those with camera footage.

Anyone travelling on the R148 between Enfield and Kilcock between 6 pm and 6:30 pm on January 2nd should contact Gardaí with relevant information/footage.
