A 14-year-old boy has been killed in a “vicious” stabbing in Manchester.

The boy’s mother has also been seriously injured in the attack.

Greater Manchester Police are now investigating the incident.

They have launched a murder inquiry after the young boy was stabbed at a house in North Manchester on Thursday night.

Police were called to the scene of the stabbing shortly after 9.30 pm.

Both the mum and her son were stabbed at their home in the Miles Platting area.

The teenager was treated at the scene for stab wounds but later died in hospital.

The boy’s mum, aged in her 40s, was also treated for serious stab wounds.

She is currently in hospital but is believed to be in a stable condition.

Police believe they knew their attacker.

They stated: “Initial inquiries suggest the attacker is known to the victims and that this is a domestic incident.”

Their attacker is an Asian man in his mid-40s.

Police are currently searching local areas for the man, but he has not been seen since Thursday night.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Detective Chief Inspector Gina Brennand said: “Last night’s events are nothing short of devastating as a teenage boy has tragically lost his life and a mother is grieving in hospital after also being seriously attacked.

“We have trained family liaison officers dedicated to supporting her and her family at this incredibly distressing time.”

“We are committed to doing all we can to make sure we bring the person responsible to justice.

“This is a shocking incident for the people of Manchester to wake up to.”

“But I do wish to stress that our inquiries so far suggest this was a contained and domestic-related incident.”

“This is a ferocious attack that has seen a teenage boy fatally injured.”
