There is also a warning that "spot flooding" may occur, as it does in any heavy downpour.
As well as being rainy, conditions are set to be windy with "fresh to strong south to southwest winds" developing, with "very strong gusts" at times. Temperatures will be between 9 and 13 degrees.
Sunday will get off to a "mostly dry and bright start", with some isolated showers in the northwest. However, in the afternoon and the evening, heavy rain is expected, with the weather turning breezy.
Next week will be drier, with "spells of sunshine" and "just a few light showers" forecast for Monday. Tuesday will bring "a good deal of dry weather with sunny spells", though some light rain and drizzle is expected in the southern part of the country.
Wednesday will see the weather become "more unsettled once again".
