Mum who revealed the identity of Boy A receives suspended sentence

Kat O'Connor

She revealed Ana Kriégel’s killer’s identity out of pure anger

25-year-old Hazel Fitzpatrick has received an 8 month suspended sentence for revealing the identity of Boy A.

The mum admitted she revealed Ana Kriégel’s killer’s identity out of pure anger.

Judge Karen O’Connor said Fitzpatrick was remorseful and was in a dark place when she posted the photo.

She understood that the mother was under pressure with her work and children at the time she posted the photo on Facebook.

However, Judge O’Connor said there had to be consequences for being “in utter and blatant breach” of a court order.

Fitzpatrick felt it was wrong the boys were being protected because Ana wasn’t.

She was “almost reliant and addicted to social media” when she posted the photo of Boy A on her Facebook.

Boy A and Boy B were not identified because of their ages.

The mum-of-two shared an image she found online on her own Facebook page the day after the verdicts.

“Name and shame the c**ts. Justice was served but they should never be allowed see daylight again. Two sickos,” she wrote alongside the image.

She deleted the post after a few minutes.

Boy A and Boy B were found guilty of murdering 14-year-old Ana Kriegel. They were 13 when they killed Kriegel.

The teenage girl was violently attacked, sexually assaulted, and murdered by both boys in an abandoned building in Lucan in May 2018.

They are the youngest people in the history of Ireland to be charged with murder.
