The fine has been doubled.
Motorists who refuse to stop at the school warden sign will be fined twice as much as before.
Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Ms. Hildegarde Naughton confirmed the fine is increasing from €80 to €160.
This is in a bid to stop motorists from dangerous driving, especially during the school run.
With children returning to school this month, all drivers are being urged to practice caution.

The Irish Examiner, the updated fine will come into place in "the very near future".
Ms Naughton hopes the fine will reduce road traffic offences "which are putting road users most at risk on our roads”.
She shared, "School wardens are vulnerable road workers."
"Their job is to keep children safe. But to do this they put themselves at risk every time they step onto the road."
"They work on all sorts of roads from national routes to small local roads and at times of the day that sees the heaviest traffic.”
Naughton stressed that school wardens deserve respect, as well as a safe working environment. Drivers need to be more considerate of them when commuting during the week.
Drivers have been asked to slow down as the new school term begins at the end of this month.
“Most importantly always heed their directions to stop,” Naughton stressed.
