Gardaí ask for public’s help after teenage girl is seriously injured in scooter accident

Gardaí in Dublin have issued a public appeal following a serious road accident in Dublin. According to reports, a teenage girl was struck by a van in the Walkinstown area. She was travelling on a push scooter when the incident took place. The incident occurred on Walkinstown Avenue shortly after 6 pm on Wednesday, December 1st. A van hit the teenager when she was travelling on the push scooter on the busy road in Dublin 12. Emergency services attended the scene last Wednesday and transported the girl to hospital in Crumlin. Gardaí confirmed that the young girl was rushed to Children's Health Ireland. She is still being treated for her injuries which have sadly been described as serious. No other injuries have been reported after the collision. The scene was preserved for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. A Garda spokesperson has urged witnesses to come forward. “Gardaí are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this incident to come forward. "Any person, pedestrian or motorist, who was travelling along Walkinstown Avenue on Wednesday, 1st December 2021 between 5.45 pm and 6.30 pm is asked to contact investigating Gardaí. Gardaí are particularly interested in road users who have camera footage, including mobile phone footage and dashcam footage, of Walkinstown Avenue at the time of the incident.
