Could we be getting snow before the Toy Show?
If you have your fingers crossed for
snow on this side of Christmas, then you could be in luck depending on where you live.
Met Éireann has said that certain parts of Ireland may see sleet or snow showers later this week as temperatures drop.
The state's meteorological service has said that on Friday, snow is possible on higher grounds.
The national forecast for that day reads: "A windy and showery day with fresh to strong northwest winds and gales developing on coasts.
"Turning cold again; some showers will turn to sleet in the evening, with snow possible on higher ground. Afternoon temperatures of just 3 to 7 degrees with an added wind chill factor."
There is also a possibility of snow or sleet on Saturday, but again, only on higher grounds.
In the meantime, we can expect plenty of wintery weather as the week continues.
According to Met Éireann
, today could see some isolated hail showers developing in the northwest, while afternoon temperatures will sit between 5 and 8 degrees.
This evening will start off-dry, but as the night goes on, scattered showers will develop in Connacht and Ulster. We can expect the lowest temperatures of -1 to 3 degrees tonight.
Tomorrow will get off to a bright and dry start with sunshine throughout the country and only isolated showers forecasted in the morning, though this will become more frequent throughout the day.
Tomorrow's temperatures will be between 5 and 7 degrees. We can also expect light to moderate northwesterly winds.
The rest of the week will generally stay cold with spells of windy and showery weather developing on Thursday and Friday.
Next week is expected to be a little milder, but with showers or spells of rain forecasted at times.
