As temperatures plummet,
Met Éireann has issued a status yellow weather warning for ice.
The warning was issued at midnight and it will remain in place until noon, today (Thursday 8 December).
Met Éireann has told the public to be aware of "hazardous conditions", as a " band of wintry precipitation will sink southwards with the potential for black ice/freezing rain on surfaces".
Another status yellow weather warning for ice and low temperature for all of Ireland will come into effect at 10pm tonight, and will remain until tomorrow morning at 10am.
Again, "hazardous conditions" are on the cards, as well as "sharp to severe frost with icy surfaces". Temperatures, Met Éireann say, are likely to fall to -4 degrees Celsius.
The UK Met Office has issued a yellow ice warning for Antrim, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry. This warning will remain in place until 12pm tomorrow.

Earlier this week, Met Éireann put a winter weather advisory in place for Ireland due to the current cold snap we are experiencing.
It read: "Very cold into early next week as an Arctic airmass sets in, bringing sharp to severe frosts, and ice or black ice on roads and footpaths.
"Some showers of hail, sleet, and snow will occur. Potential for freezing fog too, especially this weekend."
Earlier this week, Age Action Ireland encouraged the public to check on their older neighbours and relatives amid the cold snap. On Morning Ireland, the group's head of advocacy advised older people to stay warm and to seek available supports.
AA has also warned motorists to drive more slowly due and to give stopping distances twice the length that is normally needed.
