Tributes pour in for beloved Toy Show star Saoírse Ruane

Saoírse Ruane passed away peacefully on March 5th

Tributes have been pouring in following the death of the beloved Toy Show star Saoírse Ruane.

The 12-year-old sadly passed away on Tuesday, March 5th, surrounded by her loving family.

Thousands of tributes have been paid since the harrowing news emerged on Thursday morning.

Leading the tributes was President Higgins. His spokesperson said: “President Higgins has sent his deepest condolences to the family of Saoírse Ruane from Kiltullagh, Co. Galway, following her passing at the age of 12. Saoírse’s strength and warmth was an inspiration to all.”

Micheál Martin added: “Very saddened by the heartbreaking passing of Saoírse Ruane Fond memories of meeting Saoírse & her mother Roseanna in Croke Park, seeing her radiant smile & love of GAA. She leaves behind an extraordinary legacy in the Toy Show Appeal Deepest sympathies to her family & friends.”

Hazel Chu shared: “I remember during the darkest of times, the gorgeous Saoírse Ruane, put a smile on all our faces on the 2020 Toy Show. Herself, Adam King, and other children that year was what inspired the first ever Lord Mayor youth awards. Forever an inspiration, may she rest in peace.”

Saoírse will be remembered for the kind and inspiring child she was. Her life was taken far too soon, but the impact she’s had on this small island is something we’ll never forget.

She will be laid to rest on Sunday, March 10th.
