Harrowing news this afternoon.
A man has been fatally injured by a falling tree while clearing debris caused by Storm Eunice today, according to RTE.
The tragic incident happened in the Ballythomas area, which is close to the Wexford-Wicklow border, late this morning.
It is believed that the man was working alongside a colleague to clear debris caused by the storm when the tree fell.
He is reported that have been in his 50s and the death is now being investigated by Gardaí.
Gardaí say they have alerted the Health and Safety Authority and they will also be carrying out a full investigation.
