This nifty trick apparently frees up LOTS of space on your iPhone

No need to delete beloved photos or must-have apps.

Have you ever tried this?

If you’re anything like us, chances are your phone is filled with photographs of your kids and fun family days out. These are precious moments that you want to hold onto.

That can be difficult when your phone tells you that you’ve no storage left and you need to delete some of your snaps, often at the most inopportune moments.

Female hands texting on smartphone, casual woman typing message on touch screen mobile phone device by the window in the morning, nice bokeh, close up with selective focus and shallow depth of field.

But it seems there is a nifty trick that can free up an extra 1GB of memory (as put to the test by our sisters over at Her.ie).

They spotted the trick on a Reddit iPhone forum and people are raving about it. The method is as follows:

  1. Go to ‘Settings’. Then go into ‘General and click ‘About’ to see what available storage you have.
  2. The next step is accessing iTunes and trying to rent something really big such as Gone With The Wind.
  3. When your mobile tries to download the movie, a pop-up will appear saying there’s not enough space.
  4. Click ‘OK’ – this should cause a number of apps to appear as ‘Cleaning’.
  5. When you return to see what storage you have left, there should be more available.

Genius or wha’? Do let us know if it works for you!
