It can sometimes feel like it is hard to control the toy situation if you have a baby.
Or a toddler. Or a child. A little one of any age, really.
Some of them are ones parents have bought themselves (occasionally having fallen for those ads about toys that'll stimulate your child's mind or language, etc).
Many of them end up being gifts - whether they're for birthdays, visits from Santa or because granny and grandad have dropped in with "one or two" presents for their beloved grandchild.
Which is why this mum's clever invention is sounding
super tempting - especially at this time of year.
The 'toy jail' trick was originally shared on Instagram back over the summer, however it has been doing the rounds again in the lead up to Christmas.
Whenever her children leave their toys lying around the house, she picks them up and puts them in the 'jail'.
To earn their beloved toy back, the child must do a chore.
The rules were written on the outside of a clear plastic box in black pen, with the message on the top reading:
TOY JAIL
You left it out and I picked it up.
I've got your stuff, you're out of luck.
To get it back, please do a chore.
Then it's yours, just like before.
Social media users have been loving the trick, with many commenting on the post that they will be trying it themselves.
