A weather warning has been issued for 10 counties ahead of this weekend.
The status yellow wind warning comes into effect at 10pm on Thursday, December 6 and lasts until 9am on Friday, December 7.
It will cover Cavan, Donegal, Clare, Kerry, Limerick, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo.
Met Éireann forecasters have said that southwest winds will reach average speeds of 55km/h to 65 km/h, with gusts of 90 to 110km/h.
They warned that these wind speeds will be strongest near the coasts, where the limits may be exceeded later on on Thursday.
As for the rest of the forecast, Thursday is looking to be another cloudy and misty day, with outbreaks of rain.
The showers will be persistent at first but ease during the afternoon with some bright or sunny spells developing in the northwest and north.
A forecaster said that winds will be fresh southwest and moderate for a time in the afternoon. However, winds increase fresh to strong and gusty as a further spell of heavy rain will push into the southwest during the afternoon and spread northeastwards during the evening.
The highest temperatures will be between 11C to 13C.
During the night, it will be wet and very windy and there is the risk of stormy conditions in the west and northwest.
Persistent rain will clear eastwards with showers following from the west and it will turn colder, with lowest temperatures dropping to 3C to 6C.
Met Éireann are forecasting a cold and blustery day on Friday, with bright or sunny spells and heavy showers feeding in from the west. Highest temperatures will be from 5C to 8C.
