‘Nothing credible’ Stormzy defends Meghan Markle against criticism following royal family split

“I’m like, nah, she’s black man. Just get the f*ck out of here.”

Stormzy has defended Meghan Markle against criticism she has received following her and Prince Harry’s decision to split from the royal family.

The London musician said today that he finds much of the hate surrounding Meghan to be baseless, and that he believes a racist undertone exists in the argument against her actions.

Meghan and Harry announced their decision to step back from their royal duties last week.

The Duchess of Sussex has since received a torrent of backlash from royal commentators, television personalities, and royalists alike, many of whom have called her “selfish” and “manipulative.”

Stormzy said this week that he doesn’t understand the hatred swarming around Meghan.

“I’m not super into the royal family but Meghan is a sweet woman, lovely, she does her thing,” he told New York radio station Hot 97.

“I haven’t heard her say anything crazy and they just hate her.”

Stormzy pointed to This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes’ recent harsh criticism of Meghan, who called her “uppity” and “awful.”

‘“I just look at her and I think she’s got that arrogance [said Eamonn].’ I’m like, nah, she’s black man. Just get the f**ck out of here,” he said.

“If I told someone write a list as to why you hate Meghan Markle, the list is rubbish. There’s nothing credible to it but there’s an obsession with the royal family.”

Meghan and Harry announced their decision to step down from their royal duties last week.

“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution,” they said.

“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.

“It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment. We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages.”
