Male teenager killed in tragic road accident in Co. Offaly

He was driving a tractor when it entered a deep drain.

A male teenager has tragically died in a road traffic accident in Co. Offaly.

It is believed the tractor he was driving entered a deep drain last night.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the incident on Thursday, May 5th.

Unfortunately, it was too late and the male was pronounced dead.

The accident happened at around 11 pm.

Offaly Gardaí confirmed the tractor left the road and entered a deep drain at Black Castle Bog.

The driver, a male teenager, was fatally injured in the horrifying accident.

He was removed from the scene to Tullamore Hospital.

Gardaí are currently conducting an investigation.

The road will remain closed as the scene undergoes an examination.

Garda forensic collision investigators are currently on the scene.

The local coroner has also been notified of the young man’s death.

Anyone with information about the tragic accident has been asked to come forward.

Gardaí have also asked road users with video footage to make themselves known.

Anyone with dashcam footage should also come forward.

This footage should be handed over to Gardaí as soon as possible.
