Olivia Pratt Korbel’s mum tried to stop gunman from entering home

Olivia was shot dead on Monday night.

The mum of Olivia Pratt-Korbel tried to stop a man from entering their home during the shooting that claimed her daughter’s life.

According to reports, Olivia’s mother tried desperately to protect her daughter when a gunman tried to enter their home.

Olivia’s mum Cheryl was shot in the wrist as she tried to close the door on the man. Her daughter was behind her during the shooting and was tragically shot in the chest.

A 35-year-old man ran into the family’s home in the Dovecot area of Liverpool. He was fleeing from a gunman at the time.

Friends of the family rushed the young girl to the hospital, but it was too late to save Olivia.

She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police believe the family was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Police have arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with Olivia’s murder.

They stated, “A 35-year-old man has been detained in hospital on a prison recall after breaching the terms of his licence.”

It is believed he was the target of the shooting,

“He will be recalled to prison to serve the remainder of his licence. He will be further questioned in connection with the murder and remains in a stable condition.”

Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Kameen said they’re supporting Olivia’s family during this tragic time.

Speaking about the incident, Kameen confirmed Olivia’s mother tried to protect her daughter during the shooting.

The man managed to get into their home by putting their hand through the letterbox.

“Cheryl continued to try and close it.”

“A shot has been fired which we believe has hit Cheryl, injuring her and then fatally wounding Olivia. Olivia at that time, we believe, was stood directly behind Cheryl.”
