Children will be taught through the immersion model of education whereby all teaching and learning is through Gaeilge."'Synger' as the school is affectionately known, was founded in 1864 and boasts many well-known past pupils including Gay Byrne and Eddie Jordan. The movie Sing Street, based on the real-life school and starring Maria Doyle Kennedy and Jack Reynor, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last year. The critically acclaimed film grossed $13 million worldwide, and was nominated for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes.
