A status orange snow-ice weather warning has been issued for seven counties starting tomorrow.

Met Éireann issued the warning for Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Louth, Wicklow and Meath – the counties are expected to experience scattered snow showers later on Tuesday.

Tuesday night will also lead to accumulations of 4 to 6cm of snow by Wednesday morning.

The orange warning is valid from Tuesday 27 February at 15:00 to Wednesday 28 February at 11:00.

Three status yellow weather warnings are already in place for the entire country regarding exceptionally cold weather and low temperatures during the night time.

Nationwide air and ground temperatures will be 5 to 10 degrees below normal, and significant wind chill and severe frosts will also be present.

Snow showers will mainly affect eastern counties on Tuesday, but these will progressively become more widespread and heavier throughout the week.

The final status yellow warning was issued this morning for Kilkenny, Longford, Wexford, Offaly, Westmeath, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford.

Residents are told to expect scattered snow showers on Tuesday leading to accumulations of up to 3 cm in some parts by Wednesday morning.

This warning is valid from Tuesday 27 February 18:00 to Wednesday 28 February 11:00.
