Out of the mouth of babes: Irish kids talk about what equality means to them

"Anybody should be able to love anybody else."

Irish children have made one of the simplest arguments for equality in a new video for the Youthtuber channel.

In the video, released today ahead of vote on constitutional change on May 22nd, the children were asked what equality means to them. Their answers detailed the many reasons why all people should have equal rights:

Benjy said: “People who are not equal should become equal because it’s just not fair.” Sam sagely added: “You don’t have to be their friend to like them…”

Luke pointed out: “Anybody should be able to love anybody else.”

Bluebell simply asks: “Who would want to be mean to another person?”

Only one child voiced a concern regarding equality. Niall pointed out that everyone being equal might have an effect on the Guinness Book of World Records: “Everybody would be squashed into the same photo…”
