Katie Mythen-Lynch

A massive search was sparked after a boy was abducted from a primary school yesterday.

The Irish Independent reports that the child was taken from the Armstrong Primary School on College Hill, Armagh.

He was found later that evening more than 40 miles away in Belfast, where a man and woman were arrested and a man was charged with attempted abduction.

A PSNI spokesperson confirmed the woman (35) has since been released ‘unconditionally’. The man (42) will appear before Banbridge Magistrates’ Court this morning.

“The arrests followed the report of a young child being taken from school premises in Armagh city on Tuesday morning.” said the spokesperson.

“An investigation was immediately put into place by police and enquiries led to Belfast where the man and woman were arrested and the child recovered.”
