The parents of missing Cork student Karen Buckley have flown to Scotland to lead a massive search effort for their daughter.

John and Marion Buckley from Mourneabbey near Mallow have now arrived in Glasgow as extra officers and a helicopter search the area for any clue as to what might have happened to their only daughter.

Karen, 24, has not been seen since early Sunday morning when she left the Sanctuary nightclub on Dumbarton Road in Glasgow, where she is studying for a masters in occupational therapy in Glasgow Caledonian University.

Having left the nightclub without her jacket at approximately 11.45pm, Karen spoke to a man outside before walking westwards on Dumbarton Rd.

Police Scotland are eager to speak to the man, described as “stocky”seen talking to Karen on CCTV footage.

Her friends raised the alarm when she failed to return home, which they say is “very out of character”.

Karen is described as white, around 5ft 1/3in tall with dark hair, long curly extensions and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing an all-in-one black jumpsuit with red high heels and carrying a black handbag.
