Parents warned about harmful chemicals in kids’ shoes sold on TEMU

Sophie Collins

If you’ve recently bought kids’ shoes from TEMU, you might want to double-check them.

A serious safety warning has been issued about two types of children’s footwear because they could contain dangerous chemicals.

Ireland’s Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has recalled two different kids’ shoe styles sold on the popular shopping platform.

They were found to contain harmful substances like phthalates, extractable cadmium, and lead – chemicals that can pose serious health risks, including potential harm to children’s reproductive systems.

One of the recalled products is a batch of children’s rain boots, with around 14 pairs sold in Ireland.

If you have a pair, check for the GoodsID number: 601099611807824.

The second recall involves a pair of cartoon-themed kids’ sandals from the brand Jiageya, with at least one pair believed to have been purchased in Ireland.

The affected batch number is JGY240128168.

If your child has either of these shoes, stop using them immediately. Store them somewhere safe, out of reach of children, and do not let your little one wear them.

TEMU has already contacted affected customers and issued refunds.

But if you haven’t heard from them or still have concerns, you can reach out to TEMU’s customer service via their official website.
