Gardaí Investigate After Men Approach 7-Year-Old in Playground

Katie Mythen-Lynch

Gardaí in Co. Wexford are investigating the attempted abduction of a little boy near a playground.

The seven-year-old was on his way home from the playground in Maudlintown at 7.15pm on Sunday evening when he was approached by two men. The child claims they tried to put something over his face and said “You’re coming with us.”

According to reports, the kidnappers fled in a white van when a number of other children arrived on the scene.

The child’s mother took to Facebook to warn other parents to be vigilant. Her post read:

“Two SCUMBAGS tried to take my (boy) outside the community centre in Maudlintown.

“They scratched his hand off the wall and it was bleeding.

“The f***ers tried to put something over his face and said “you’re coming with us”.

“(He) described them as having brown skin and two grown up men.

“Lucky another few children came and (my boy) kicked the scumbag and ran away.

“They had their big white van parked in Edenvale avenue on (Dolphin Road).

“If anyone seen anything can you please let me know. I have been to the guards.”

Gardaí in Wexford have confirmed they are investigating the incident.
