The presenter’s brother appeared in court this week.

Phillip Schofield has stepped back from presenting This Morning due to his brother’s ongoing trial.

His brother has been charged with multiple sexual offences against a teenage boy.

The presenter won’t appear on the ITV show for the remainder of the week, Holly Willoughby has confirmed.

ITV has not confirmed when Phillip Schofield will return to This Morning.

Timothy Schofield (54) has been charged with 11 counts of sexual abuse offences.

The presenter’s brother appeared in court this week.

According to reports, 54-year-old Timothy Schofield abused a teenage boy for three years.

The alleged abuse began in October 2016. He forced the victim to “engage in and watch sex acts”.

Police arrested Timothy in 2021. They also raided his home where they discovered further evidence.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Timothy confessed to Schofield in September, but the presenter didn’t inform the police straight away.

However, the victim’s counsellor alerted the police after the victim confided in them.

Timothy visited Phillip Schofield’s home in September 2021 to confess.

Following his confession, Schofield said: “What did you just say?”

“The defendant then said his brother would hate him for what he was about to say, his brother said that he wouldn’t and then the defendant said he had their time together and they had watched porn and w***** together.”

Timothy Schofield has denied all charges.

The trial is ongoing.
