Congratulations are said to be in order.

Pippa Middleton is reportedly expecting her first child with husband, James Matthews.

The 34-year-old is said to have had her 12-week scan only last week and has since shared the news with close family and friends.

According to reports in The Sun, Pippa is due sometime in October and she and James are said to be “overjoyed” at the news.

The news comes as Pippa’s sister Kate is due to give birth to her third child, and it is said the Duchess “could not have been more delighted” with the news.

“When Pippa found out she was pregnant, she was obviously thrilled and utterly overjoyed,” a friend told The Sun.

“Naturally, big sister Kate and parents, Carole and Michael, were the first people she told – James aside – and they could not have been more delighted.”

“It’s been a tough few weeks for the two families,” they added, “So this has provided some much-needed happiness and light relief.”

Both families have been keeping out of the public eye in recent weeks after Pippa’s father-in-law, David Matthews was accused of rape.

The 74-year-old has denied the allegations and called them ‘untrue and scandalous’.

The news of Pippa’s pregnancy doesn’t come as a surprise to close friends, as one said they have been discussing it for a while.

“Pippa and James have always known they wanted children.

“They have made the most of their first few months of marriage and felt the time was right to expand their family.”

Pippa and James got engaged back in July 2016 and later married in May 2017 at St Mark’s Church in Englefield, Berkshire.
