Police forced to smash car window to save baby

Just awful.

Laura Holland

A policeman in America was forced to smash a car window to save a baby from a hot car.

The incident took place in Evansville, Indiana outside a Walmart where the mother of the baby was reportedly shopping. Members of the public raised the alarm when they noticed a small baby in the back of a parked car, with temperatures reaching 31 degrees.

When the mother was nowhere to be seen, a policeman decided to smash through the passenger side window to gain access to the car.

According to 14 News, the four-month-old had been left in the car for over two hours and was sweating and crying when the policeman rescued him.

The baby’s mother was taken into custody and was said to have not been very remorseful. She said she didn’t know the baby was in the car and that her teenage daughter must have put him there.

She’s due in court on Friday to face charges of child neglect and possession of marijuana.
