Police are investigating a note found on a dollar bill claiming to be from a girl who went missing 18 years ago.

11-year-old Mikelle Biggs was last seen cycling her bike in Meza, Arizona in 1999.

She disappeared close to her home and her bike was later discovered nearby with the wheels still spinning.

ABC15 reports that a dollar bill was found this week in Wisconsin with a note on it that reads: “My name is Mikel Biggs kidnapped from Mesa, AZ. I’m alive.”

Despite the incorrect spelling of ‘Mikelle,’ Arizona police are still investigating the note.

Mesa detective Steve Berr said that authorities can’t be sure whether the note is authentic or not.

He said:

“Someone out there clearly recalls the case whether it be Mikelle or someone else. So is that a clue one way or another? We just simply don’t know at this point.”

Mikelle’s sister, Kimber, has said that she doesn’t believe the note to be authentic.

She told USA Today

“I don’t believe she would have written it, as the circumstances of it don’t make much sense.

“There’s always that bit of hope, but I think right now we just want it to lead to someone who knows something.”

Mikelle would be 30-years-old today.
