Police Rush Newborn Baby to Hospital After Finding It Abandoned in Bucket

HerFamily

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about how fast-thinking has saved an abandoned newborn baby and unfortunately we don’t think it’ll be the last.

According to The Mirror, police in Colombia found a child inside a bucket covered in amniotic fluid and with the umbilical cord still attached.

Officers were called to the scene after receiving a call from a member of the public. Rather than waiting for an ambulance, they rushed the baby to hospital.

The newspaper reports that the little one weighed 3lbs 1oz and doctors believe he was born a month premature.

He was diagnosed with hypothermia and police are still searching for the mother.

The incident apparently happened in the Santiago de Cali area of Colombia where a female officer recently saved the life of an abandoned baby girl by breastfeeding her.
