Police are searching for a person who left a baby boy in a bin in a New York park.

The infant was discovered by a resident, Devon Davis, and a friend who said they noticed an “unpleasant smell” when they were walking through the park on Saturday at 11am.

The friend found the boy’s body wrapped in a yellow plastic bag.

He was dead when he was discovered.

ABC7 reports that Davis immediately rang emergency services but it was already too late.

He said:

“It’s just really messed up, and really foul. It’s just something I really didn’t want to see.

“Having to see kids like that and seeing babies left like that. It’s just wrong.”

Authorities have yet to identify the boy but have said that he is a few weeks old.

No arrests have been made but police are currently searching for the person who left the infant in the bin.

A cause of death has yet to be determined.
